Travel Guide to Dublin, Ireland (Part One)

www.TheExpeditioner.com Dublin is one of the world’s most popular travel destinations, and a few days spent there shows why. In part one of my travel guide to Dublin, I tour the city’s number one attraction, the Guinness Storehouse, go in search of the bar that serves the best pint, visit prestigious Trinity College, and head out into the famed nightlife that is Dublin after dark.

I’m going to Europe in May and June of 2011, and I just finished making a budget for my trip that included the cost to get into every attraction that I want to see. However, I started thinking about some of the attractions that are going to be in the places I’m traveling to, and in particular, some of the churches and landmarks. I’ll start by saying where I’m going to be traveling to:

Madrid, Seville, Granada, Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Berlin, Munich, Dublin, Cork, London, and Paris

There are so many churches and landmarks that charge you admission to climb to the top and things like that. However, I feel like, although it would be awesome to climb up to the top of a church or tower and see the whole city, that my money can be well spent by either enjoying the monuments from the outside, or paying the minimum amount (or in some cases where it’s free, not paying at all) to explore the main areas of the church/landmark and not pay the extra cost to "climb" things.

So here’s my predicament/question: Are there certain things in any of those cities that would REALLY be an awesome experience to climb and see? For example, everyone seems to say that that the Duomo in Florence is a must see and that I should climb up to see the Dome and the Bell Tower and all that fun stuff. And of course, I’d want to climb the Eiffel Tower. Are there some places where the experience would really be enhanced to pay the extra few euros to check out? Or are there some places where it would be better to just get my picture of, stand in awe looking at it outside for a few moments, and then be on my way to something else? I’ve never traveled outside of the United States before, so I’m just curious and interested in saving money if possible.

Thanks for the advice! Also, if you have anything in general about attractions in any of those places I listed, I’d appreciate that advice too?

Help choosing hotels in the european cities?

we will be in europe in may 2011 and we need nice hotels in London, Rome, venice, Dublin. We want less than 0 a night it is for 4 ppl in one room. (it will be tight we know) we want close to major attractions and city center. Also in Rome the last night we need a hotel close to the cruise terminal. so two hotels in rome

I’m planning a trip this summer to Europe (flying into Dublin, leaving from Milan) for four weeks, was wondering if anyone has any interesting ideas of unique/off-the-beaten-path places to visit or activities to try. This will be my third visit, so I have already seen the major tourist attractions/cities (Paris, Berlin, London, etc.) and would like to try something new. Any info. on festivals this July/August would be greatly appreciated as well! :)
