I have been to Prague, Czech Republic just recently. I can not say enough nice words about this city. Yes, I've seen in the movies lots of times and thought, ok great city, good beer, nice people etc. But going over there for real and walking throught it and checking it out first-hand, now that's a completely different story.
My trip to Prague was a complete coincidence. A friend of mine came from the States to Europe for some personal reasons and I was supposed to pick him up in Germany. So he asked me if I had ever been to Prague. I said no and there you go. So I went to Vilsack, Germany to pick him up, drove east to Prague, checked-in in a small hotel and went out for a dinner. I can not remember the name of a restaurant but food was good, not to mention their beer. I know Czech Republic has a brewery around every corner but man this beer was good. BTW, out mission was to "explore" Czech beer. And we certinaly did. (Don't ask me how many I had that night)... Anyway...
After the dinner we had a good rest. The next day (which was also a day of our departure - yes this was one of those 12 hour visits) we drove to the center of the city, parked that car about 300 m from Charles bridge and walked around. At that's where it all begins.
I drove to Prague by car but what are some other ways of getting to Prague? Of course it depends where you're from... Here are some recent updates on flight into Prague:
- SkyEurope connected Prague with Croatia (Zadar-Prague) - they say it will cost you only 10.60 EUR. The could have cancelled this connection as I can see that Czech Airlines (I guess in connection with Croatina Airlines) goes directly to Zagreb, Croatia.
- Czech Airlines flys to Bratislava, Skopje (Macedonia), Barcelona, Budapest (Hungary), Warshaw (Poland), Kiev, Sofia, Belgrade, etc.
- Alitalia goes to Zagreb, Rome, Bologne etc.
- From Lyon and Paris you can fly with Air France,
- KLM will bring you from Amsterdam, Easyjet from London Stansted, Lufthansa from Munich, etc. (source: Prague Airport).
What are YOUR experiences with Prague?
